A Journey Through Teaching and Learning: My 2004 Education Portfolio
The portfolio was designed as a primary evaluation tool for the Teacher Education Program at the University of Washington. It is the culmination of two years of studying and working in the field of education. This porfolio is an example of authentic assessment that allows me to illustrate my learning through multiple forms of evidence. At the heart of my porfolio are my reflections on the complexities of being a teacher and the growth I hope to continue in this profession. This has been a tremendous experience for me that has resulted in new and significant learning.

I have a number of people who have been very influential in my completion of this program. First and formost I would like to thank Gene Edgar for his belief in me and his inspiration as a teacher. Also, Walter Parker for his help in developing teaching methods that really work with junior high students. Thank you to my Cooperating Teacher, Maureen Pittenger. You had the greatest influence on my teaching practices and I am indebted to you for all you have done for me. Finally, I wish to thank my family, my fiance, Rachael, and my friends for their continued support through a challenging, yet rewarding two years.
