Project Management
Project Management is often part of a technical editor's responsibliity because frequently they inherit the role of coordinating projects. Demonstrated communication skills and credibility are important, as are personal skills such as the ablity to deal with ambiguity, set goals, act decisively, maintain composure, and remain focused on results.
This Visio Diagram depicts the interrelated documents that I was charged with updated and rewriting during my internship at MSDN publishing. I gathered information for updating process descriptions from many different subject matter experts, analyzed it, and rewrote the process descriptions. a complex project I managed at my MSDN internship. Different content was analyzed and updated by several different coworkers, and I gathered it all, asked further questions when necessary, and substantively edited every word. When going over details with owners of the content, and then organizing them into a structured, revealing display, I was serving the audience by clarifying complex processes.
