Details:
I was admitted to the University of Washington in Autumn Quarter of 1999, and
won entry into the art department of the University
of Washington School of Art that same quarter. I studied with Harold Waugh, well-known in the dual fields of photography and graphic design, on a one-on-one basis even as I took the basic art history and drawing courses. I've exhibited my photography in two local galleries - The Gallery Douligan and Jim Houghe Galleries. I've also continued my piano lessons with Regina Yeh, performing in many piano studio recitals as well as studying music theory and history.
As I studied for a possible artistic career, I also pursued a Bachelor of
Arts in Communications at the UW School of Communications (now the School of
Journalism). I was particularly interested in communications because as an artist,
I needed information on how to effectively collaborate with other artists and the public at large. It has also helped my marketing strategy
and collectively enhanced my business acumen. If a career in the arts is not
in my future, I could happily work within the business world using the skills
I learned in classes such as "Effective Public Speaking," "Communications
in International Relations, " and "Media, Society, and Political Identity."
I was an active part of the Honors community during my work at the University
of Washington, and earned honors in my Communications department, all while
maintaining a GPA of 3.6.
