Academics: Future
I plan to gain entrance into the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department by the end of my freshman year. To obtain this goal, I am taking the classes required for admission. The classes I am taking next quarter are as follows:
CSE 143 with Reges, advanced java programing taking off from CSE 142. CSE 142 has been a breeze and I look forward to continueing my pursuit of computer science as my major. My brother graduated last year from the computer engineering department and has been giving me advice. He said Reges was one of the best computer professors in the department and passing up an opertunity like this would be silly. This course is a requirement to the CSE department.
Physics 121 - Mechanics. I took AP physics in high school and obtained credit for the 110 series at UW. That series, however, does not satisfy the requirement for the CSE department. My physics experience in high school was positive and I enjoy the field. This class should be easier for me since I have background and enjo the class.
Calculus 126. In high school I took two years of calculus and tested out of 124 and 125 with AP credit. I am now finishing the sequence before I wait any longer. The material should be familar since my high school course already covered it. This includes Taylor series, vectors, and other fun math. I enjoyed this in high school and will be glad to conclude my calculus series at UW.
Looking over my schedule, you would say I am crazy. Math. Computer Science. Physics. I agree. It sounds crazy yet these are all areas that I enjoy and eccel in. I have spent some time before my registration deadline to arrange my schedule so I can sleep in. Sleep is important to me and I enjoy feeling resting (while still being able to go to bed late).
